What is Battery Storage?
Typically, a battery connects to the wider grid at an electric substation. The power used to charge the batteries is generated by whatever power plants are injecting electricity to the grid when the battery charges, regardless of specific technology or fuel source. When the batteries discharge, or put power back onto the grid, it is delivered to any and all customers using power at that time, whether they are residential, commercial or industrial users.
Why Battery Storage?
Customer Demand: Homes and businesses need reliable energy at all times. Morning and evening hours are typically when the largest amount of energy is needed from the grid to serve customers. During these times, batteries provide energy to meet the high demand.
Maintain Stability: Supply and demand of energy fluctuate throughout the day and changes in either can affect grid stability. Batteries help even out the fluctuation of energy on the grid.
Power on Demand: Batteries can deploy energy instantaneously in times of need.
Supporting Renewable Energy Sources: Wind and solar energy sources generate when available, but they are not always available. Batteries help make a grid with renewable resources more reliable by storing the energy when it is available and saving it until it is needed.
What about safety?
Safety is our top priority during construction, operations, and throughout the entire life of our projects. We also offer ongoing training to first and secondary responders in the communities we serve. Each battery cell within each container is individually monitored, providing constant, 24/7 oversight capability over every component of the Project. Each container is equipped with an integrated system of sensors, alarms and fire suppression systems.
The operational management systems are designed, installed, and operated according to national Fire Code standards and regulations. All Jupiter Power battery systems are fire-safety tested according to strict Underwriters Laboratory protocols.
Safe operations are enhanced by design parameters; state-of-the-art technology for monitoring, alarm, and fire suppression systems; and clear, open communication with first responders. Jupiter Power is always evaluating equipment and the newest industry developments for preventative maintenance for safe battery energy storage facilities.
